Shoreline casting action Apr and May for hungry brown trout. The creek at Olcott (18 Mile) is muddy but there are loads of fish around according to Karen Evarts at The Boat Doctors in Olcott. Hike and hunt around the smaller waterways in the lower flows like at Sandy and Johnson and you should find some browns too.

From 9-mile point to the high rocks has been the most consistent producer for a lot of boats; as well as in front of the Salmon River. Here is a terrific morning catch of Oak Orchard River-bound king salmon from 21-26# from 110 ft of Lake Ontario ledge water. Look for the past holiday weekend fishing pressure to ease some likely thru this week. This latest rise in flows and continued cool down should kick off better brown trout migrations in the Oak setting up good drifting chances into November and maybe into December with reasonable weather hanging in. Kings have for the most part given up the ghost and now some carcasses are seen seeding the waterway. Port Bay water is very warm and there has been weed growth near the south end.
